1 Gather tools and components for assembly

Components Required

  • Y Motor Extension
  • Z Right Motor Extension

  • M3x16 Stainless Flat Head Screw

  • Zip ties
  • Tie holders

  • Clamp ferrite

2 Attach RAMBo to frame

Attach the heat sink, shown with Rambo and hardware, to the mini Rambo Z axis chip (Ref Des U7).

Remove the adhesive backing from the heat sink. Squarely align the heat sink with the U7 chip, press down gently on the chip FOR 7 TO 10 SECONDS to set the adhesive.

Attach the mini Rambo to the outside left frame plate using 4x M3x5 SHCS as shown, note orientation.

3 Attach ferrites to the frame

Add three tie down mounts to the frame above the RAMBo mount.

When installing the ferrites you will need to pay special attention to the orientation shown in the pictures.

Install three ferrites onto the tie down mounts and secure.

CAUTION! Be sure to arrange the Y motor and Z right motor grounds as shown to prevent shorting against the 5 amp fuse on the left. Tighten the nylon locking nut.

Place the grounding wires on the ground post as shown.

Install two additional ferrites between the rambo and the three previously installed ferrites and secure.

Install two additional tie down mounts to the frame below the RAMBo as shown.

Install the X-min ferrite assembly (green and black wires wrapped around a ferrite core) onto the tie down mount shown and secure.

Install a clamp-on ferrite to the loose hookup wires, DO NOT include the extruder heater circuit.

Install a clamp-on ferrite to the extruder heater circuit.

Use ferrule spacer to attach tie bases.
Place Bases on frame.
Gather Five ferrite jumpers.
orient and install the ferrites as shown
place the grounding wires on the ground post as shown.
place two tie wraps through the outer two ferrites as seen in the example
secure the ferrites with the tie wraps not the orientation of the ferrites.

4 Connect the red and black Z limit switch wires

Locate the loose red wire with terminal installed, insert into the connector (position1, Triangle on connector) of the three position connector that has only one black wire installed (at posiiton 2), Plug in the z min connector on the RAMBo

Locate the 3 position connector with just one black wire installed
Locate the solo terminated red wire
Install the red wire into position 1 (the triangle on the connector denotes position 1)
Connect loose red wire to black with with connector, Position is critical

5 Connect wires to RAMBo

Connect wires in the indicated order to their positions on the RAMBo

-* Double check your cable routing to be sure you don't have any twists or kinks in the wiring.

plug the z min connector into z min location on the RAMBo
plug the z max connector into z max location on the RAMBo
Connect the 24v fan to the fan 1 connector on the RAMBo.
Connect the 5V fan to the 5V auxiliary connector on the RAMBo.
Connect the extruder thermistor to the T0 connector on the RAMBo.
Connect the bed thermistor to the T2 connector on the RAMBo.
Connect the y max switch to the y max connector on the RAMBo.
Connect the y min switch to the y min connector on the RAMBo.
Connect the blue/black Z min contact switch to the ICSP connector on the RAMBo.
plug in the x min switch to the x min ferrite connector
plug in the extruder heater into extruder heat plug on the RAMBo.
make sure the wires are running a direct route across the middle of the board as shown. DO NOT twist the wires together.
Connect the E motor to the ferrite and plug the ferrite to E motor on the RAMBo
Connect the Z motor left to the ferrite and plug the ferrite to upper Z motor on the RAMBo.
Connect the Z motor right to the ferrite and plug the ferrite to lower Z motor on the RAMBo
Connect the Y motor to the ferrite and plug the ferrite to Y motor on the RAMBo
Connect the X motor to the ferrite and plug the ferrite to X motor on the RAMBo
Connect the case fan to the FAN2 pin header
Connect DC power to the POWER INPUT header
Connect the left panel case ground cable to the case ground harness.

6 Attach Controller Box Fan

  • Plug in the fan to the two bare pins with the latch facing downward as installed on your printer.
  • The RAMBo installed on your printer is rotated 180 degrees from the photo shown.

7 Add the Z motor Extension

Add the Z motor extension as shown.

Connect the Z motor extension to the Z right motor.

Make sure the end of the extension you plug into the motor is the end without the ground lug.

8 Add the Y motor extension

Add the Y motor extension as shown.

Connect the Y motor extension and zip tie in place as shown.

Make sure the end of the extension you plug into the motor is the end without the ground lug.

Also, Zip tie the Z motor extension in place as shown.

9 Attach spool arm

Attach the spool arm to the inside right frame plate using 4x M3x6 flat head screws as shown.
